The protection level classification of electric cranes (electric hoists) mainly follows the IP (Ingress Protection) protection level standard, which was drafted by the IEC (International Electrotechnical Commission) to evaluate the dust and water resistance performance of electrical equipment. The IP protection level consists of two numbers. The first number represents the level of equipment that prevents solid foreign objects from entering, and the second number represents the degree of sealing that the equipment prevents water from entering.

The specific classification of protection levels is as follows:

The first number (dust level):

0: No protection, no special protection for external objects.

1: It can prevent solid foreign objects with a diameter greater than 50mm from entering the working area of the motor.

2: It can prevent solid foreign objects with a diameter greater than 12mm from entering the working area of the motor.

3: It can prevent solid foreign objects with a diameter greater than 2.5mm from entering the working area of the motor.

4: It can prevent solid foreign objects with a diameter greater than 1mm from entering the working area of the motor.

5: Dustproof can prevent dust from entering the working area of the motor, but it is not completely sealed.

6: Dust tight, can completely prevent dust from entering the working area of the motor.

Second digit (waterproof rating):

0: No protection, no specialized waterproof measures.

1: Drip prevention: Water droplets falling vertically should not cause damage.

2: 15 ° anti drip, dripping within a 15 ° angle range from the vertical line should not cause damage.

3: Waterproof, water spraying within a 60 ° angle range from the vertical line should not cause damage.

4: Splash proof, any direction of splashing should have no harmful effects on the motor.

5: Anti water spray, any direction of water spray should have no harmful effect on the motor.

6: Prevent waves or strong water spray. Strong waves or strong water spray should have no harmful effects on the motor.

7: Immersion: The motor should be immersed in water at the specified pressure and time, and its water inlet should have no harmful effects.

8: Diving, the motor should be immersed in water for a long time under the specified pressure, and its water intake should have no harmful effects.

Common protection levels for electric cranes:

IP44: It can prevent solid foreign objects with a diameter greater than 1mm from entering the motor, and also prevent splashing water from any direction from causing damage to the motor.

IP54: Higher dustproof rating, can prevent dust from entering the motor working area (but not completely sealed), while maintaining the same waterproof performance as IP44.

IP55: On the basis of IP54, the waterproof performance has been improved, which can prevent water spray from all directions from causing damage to the motor.

IP65: The dustproof level reaches the dust tight level, while preventing damage to the motor from water spray from all directions.
