1、 Fracture of steel wire rope

reason:

Overloading and impact: Severe impact during use can cause overloading, damage, and localized wear of the steel wire rope.

Corrosion and fatigue: When the steel wire rope is severely corroded, fatigued, overspeed, or slips, one or several strands may break.

Improper operation: If a heavy object is dragged diagonally along the ground or platform using an electric hoist (commonly known as "skewed lifting"), or when the heavy object is lifted by the hook and lowered, the heavy object has already fallen onto the ground or pallet but the steel wire rope is still over loaded, these may cause the steel wire rope to break.

2、 Twisting deformation and bending of steel wire rope

reason:

Incorrect pulling and winding methods: The steel wire rope is pulled out of the pulley incorrectly, or wound incorrectly in the drum, resulting in twisting, deformation, and bending due to improper fixation.

The phenomenon of "over winding": The steel wire rope has become tangled in disorder on the drum or has been damaged due to the reverse winding. Continuing to operate may cause the steel wire rope to get stuck and break.

3、 Relaxation damage during the lifting process

Frequent use of steel wire rope can cause the running beam to bend at the rope clamp, resulting in steel wire fatigue and fracture.

4、 Extension or reduction of twisting distance of steel wire rope

reason:

During lifting operations, the steel wire rope is often overloaded, causing the core of the steel wire rope to be squeezed and stretched or shrunk.

5、 Other factors

The number of times the wire rope is wound and the degree of bending: Every time the wire rope is wound on the pulley or drum, it will go through a process of changing from straight to curved and then from curved to straight, which can cause damage to the wire rope. The more times it is wound, the more severe the overload, and the easier it is to wear and break.

Work level and usage environment: The level of work and the severity of the usage environment (such as temperature, corrosive gases) can also affect the lifespan of steel wire ropes.

Use, storage, and maintenance: Improper use, storage, and maintenance methods can also accelerate the damage of steel wire ropes.
