1、 Appearance and structural inspection

Plastic deformation: If the dangerous section or neck of the hook undergoes plastic deformation, it indicates that it can no longer withstand normal loads and should be scrapped.

Wear and tear:

Dangerous section wear: When the dangerous section wear of the hook reaches 10% of the original size, it should be scrapped.

Opening degree increase: If the opening degree of the hook increases by 15% compared to the original size, it should also be scrapped, as this will significantly reduce the load-bearing capacity of the hook.

Wear of bushings and shafts: For hooks, if the bushing wear reaches 50% of the original size, it should be replaced; If the wear of the spindle reaches 5% of the original size, the spindle should be replaced.

2、 Function check

Thread corrosion: If the threaded part of the hook is corroded, it will affect its connection and fixing function and should be scrapped.

Deformation: If the twisting deformation of the hook body exceeds 10 °, it will seriously affect the load-bearing capacity and safety of the hook, and should be scrapped.

3、 Other precautions

Load test: For newly put into use hooks, a load test should be conducted with 1.25 times the rated load as the test load, and the test time should not be less than 10 minutes. After the load is removed, there should be no cracks, fractures, or permanent deformations on the hook. If there are any, they should be scrapped.

Safety device: In order to prevent detachment and accidents, the hook should be equipped with a safety device to prevent detachment.
